He is worthy!

February 23, 2007

I remember the moment that I met him. He was an esteemed person of notoriety and importance. I was not. As I was introduced to him, I smiled and reached out to shake his hand. He looked right past me, over my shoulder and scanned the crowd behind me. As he answered, “Pleased to meet you,” he was obviously preoccupied with another agenda. My name, my person, my offering of myself in the introduction was totally rejected because he was lost in a world all to himself, looking for someone else. I felt worthless.

Do we approach our God in that same way?

Worship is ascribing great worth and value to something or someone held in high esteem. There are as many ways to express your worship, as there are ways to tell someone that you love him/her. God is worthy of our worship. Let’s do it!

“Ascribe to the Lord, O families of nations,
Ascribe to the Lord glory and strength,
Ascribe to the Lord the glory due His name.
Bring an offering and come before Him; worship the Lord in the splendor of His holiness.”  1 Chronicles 16:29

Give and Take

January 28, 2007
  • The more you give, the more you get.
  • The more you love, the less you fret.
  • The more you do unselfishly, the more you live abundantly.
  • The more of everything you share, the more you’ll always have to spare.
  • The more you love, the more you’ll find that life is good and friends are kind.
  • For only what we give away enriches us from day to day.

Guidelines for Giving

November 2, 2006

Pastor Drew recently shared a powerful message of giving. I ran across this the other day and thought I’d pass it along. This writing is from Susan Huey Wales in her book Standing on the Promises.

GIVE TRUSTINGLY
focus on God’s faithfulness instead of on what you don’t have.

GIVE EXPECTANTLY
know that God will provide for all your needs according to His riches in glory.

GIVE JOYFULLY
realize that God blesses giving and trust.

GIVE GRATEFULLY
acknowledge all the blessings that God has given to you.

GIVE LAVISHLY
know that you cannot outgive God!

Have a Blessed Day!

Lifestyle Evangelism

October 23, 2006

Pastor Drew has just concluded a series entitled Sharing the Life of God. Here are a few more thoughts on the subject from Dr. David Jeremiah.

BE ENTHUSIASTIC
Are you enthusiastic about your faith in Jesus Christ? Contagious Christians are doing something that’s got them excited, something that gets them out of bed in the morning.

BE AUTHENTIC
People don’t only read the Christian literature we give them; they read our lives. It’s nearly impossible to ignore someone who authentically lives out his or her convictions. But it’s easy to discount someone who says one thing and does another.

LOOK FOR OPPORTUNITIES
In the past month, how many of you have had dinner with an unsaved couple or individual? Witnessing presents a real challenge if we are always around believers.

BE PREPARED
Prepare yourself for evangelism by praying and studying the Bible. Begin on your knees by asking God to touch your unsaved friends through the power of the Holy Spirit. Even if you don’t see your friends come to Christ right away, keep praying!

START TODAY
Nothing can compare to being God’s instrument to lead one person out of the kingdom of Satan into the glorious life of heaven. If you have never had that experience, or you would like to be more effective in your witness, God can use you starting today.

Thanks Team!

October 17, 2006

Monday night we hosted the Arundel Baptist Association Annual Meeting here at Severn Run. We also had the opportunity to lead in some time of worship. Thanks to the team that led that time of worship. You guys were awesome in how you stepped up to the plate (without a warm-up) and led. Sometimes we must do what we have to do to make things happen even when we are not at our comfort level. Once again I am reminded of John 15 when Jesus explained how we must remain attached to the vine or we will not bear fruit. We must remain in Him completely trusting in Him and He will carry us through. Our task is to be prepared and completely trust in Him.

Thanks to you all for your willingness to serve together in the Worship Ministry. Thank you for your flexibility with the new schedule. I will be looking for feedback in the coming weeks so we can do some tweaking come January. Give it a few weeks and let me hear from you.

I am praying for you and your families. If there is a specific way I can pray for you and your family let me know. You each bless my heart as your serve. Thanks for allowing me to serve along side you.

What Is Life?

Life is a gift . . . ACCEPT IT.

Life is an adventure . . . DARE IT.

Life is a mystery . . . UNFOLD IT.

Life is a game . . . PLAY IT.

Life is a struggle . . . FACE IT.

Life is beauty . . . PRAISE IT.

Life is a puzzle . . . SOLVE IT.

Life is opportunity . . . TAKE IT.

Life is sorrowful . . . EXPERIENCE IT.

Life is a song . . . SING IT.

Life is a goal . . . ACHIEVE IT.

Life is a mission . . . FULFILL IT.
